Opaque, purple/red colour holds to the rim. Aromas are restrained, brooding & savoury. At first the palate is closed with plenty of very fine, drying oak tannins. There is also a wonderful fresh acidity & balanced alcohol. As the wine opens ripe, rounded fruit shows itself, balancing the monumental tannins. The finish is long rich & wonderfully supple.
