Trip to Tuscany, italy
Tuscany in the autumn who could resist? But as our group worked with Amy on our week long itinerary I couldnt help but think we were setting her an impossible task. First of course came the wine and food. We wanted to visit vineyards but also we desired the freedom to take in other attractions : to enjoy the countryside and the people, visit quaint villages, relishing the unique culture of Italy and of course time for shopping not least the up market factory outlets outside of Florence. We wanted 5 star accommodation but not luxury hotels. We asked Amy if she could choose family run vineyards which offered first class accommodation. The local michelin starred restaurants were a must but we also wanted to be able to enjoy the restaurants at the vineyards and family run eateries in the various villages en route. We wanted to see alot of Tuscany but not be rushed so that we missed the magic and beauty of the landscape. We wanted to be able to linger over a long lazy lunch or enjoy a second bottle of wine in a charming village square. Time to be introduced to the people of Tuscany the winemakers, cheese farmers, artisans so we could feel its soul.
The pictures of out trip paint a thousand words. From Amy’s welcoming smile at Rome arrivals to our sad goodbyes at the same airportour trip was a dream come true and a wonderful memory that will last a life time. Wine, food, countryside, people it could not have gone better. Sad that it is past but now looking forward to Amy arranging our next trips to Spain and Portugal.
